Terry Pluto’s Classic Commentary. A Cow Reponds.

Yet, they could have won . . . only they didn’t.
And as a Cleveland fan, that probably doesn’t surprise you.

Terry…here’s a thought. Go get some of your religious zealot church friends to unzip me and smoke my dong. The negativity you bring to this is more palpable than your insistence that the Holy Spirit is in you. Maybe it’s not the Holy Spirit, Terry. Maybe it’s a bug up your ass.

81% of game 7’s go to the home team. Most of them are like game 7 of the 1992 Cavs Boston series. Remember THAT one, Terry? We WON 122-104. It was Larry Bird’s last game. And he was crushed like a bug IN CLEVELAND. Certainly, your tired old ass was around in 1992. Did you forget, or are you trying to perpetuate a negative stereotype about Cleveland sports.

We NEVER win big ones, do we, Terry? Sandy Alomar never hit a HR off Rivera. Tony Pena’s shot was a mirage. There was no Miracle in Richfield, except the time you went to a revivalist tent show there.

History was against the Cavs. Your favorite guy, Z, failed to show up. Two men tried to carry the weight of 7. Delonte may not be great, but he didn’t lay down. And the always questioned LeBron played his guts out (no Butch Davis references, please).

You may be instructed by Jehovah to cast this game in a negative light, but the Cavs made this a real game with defense and the work of 4 guys (2 of whom don’t start). The truth? The Cavs are not that good. They play team defense, and it took a huge Paul Pierce game for the 60 million dollar free agent Celts to beat the Cleveland Wallys. The big 3 were down to one. Garnett scored but 13, all but shut down by an old Ben Wallace. Ray Allen was Sczerbi-esque. It took a 38 year old to have a big game off the bench to make up for the little 2.

Put 60 million in free agents with LeBron, and see what happens, dork. Free up our cap space and give me Dwayne Wade or CP3.

Better yet…simply stop writing about Cleveland sports. Go away. You’ve lost objectivity when you resort to the primitive curse theme. You have succumbed to spiritual sports burnout. You no longer believe the outcome is ahead of us. You have accepted that the outcome is preordained.

I, for one, believe better days are ahead. And so does LeBron. Ask him about losing, and he won’t know nearly as much as you pretend to.

Analyze the game. Understand why we lost. Make appropriate changes. Somebody HAS to win the title, and it is usually the team that collects the players that are consistent and play together. See the difference between THESE Lakers and previous years. Or the Hornets. Remember that it’s a 7-8 man team game. Remember that smart moves are rewarded with victory, and 6th round selections of DeSagana Diop result in dead end development and potentially years of woe.

It isn’t in our stars, Terry. It is in ourselves. Without a true PG, and younger more vital center, this team cannot get to the highest level. These issues are correctible, not ordained.

Unless you’ve become a lazy sportswriter who has lost the work ethic to write a real journalistic piece.

Moo

Congrats To the Celtics. And a Big Thanks To Wally and Big Z.

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

Here it is in a nutshell:

LeBron tried to play with 2 guys. The other team had 4. Ray Allen is old and is running on fumes. Pierce played large. Garnett? Shrinkage. PJ Brown? Clutch.

I certainly hope Z (Mr Teflon) shoulders 80% of this loss. He never gets charged up in big games, and disappears on the floor. Unless he is fed open looks, he can do nothing on his own. He is a welfare Center…depending on LeBron’s handouts.

Did you see Wally smiling and hobnobbing with the Celts after the game? Fuck Wally. Get rid of his sorry excuse for an attitude, and let him play in Oklahoma. He put up a goose egg.

While the Celts move on, there was little to distinguish between these 2 teams. Boston had a better seasonal record, but in the end, are no better than the 3 man Cavs. Boston should have blown Cleveland out early, and damn near paid for their errors down the stretch.

The Cavs must now rebuild this team with better players. The Celtics? THIS is their future. It all goes down and under in the next year or two. It’s now or never…and Ray Allen may be the first victim of a long season and old legs.

Cow Analyzes Cavs Game With Precision…Unfortunately

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Rondo was penetrating. Boston got to the hole. Rondo made threes. Z disappeared. Boobie got hurt.

But at the heart of this game, the Cavs outplayed Boston 3 out of 4 quarters. Not enough on the road. An amazing 72% shooting 3rd quarter, and solid defense in the second half, led the Celtics to victory.

While Boston limped to the finish line, the Cavs simply fell behind too far, too late against a solid defensive team. Once again, the dreaded 3rd quarter reared its ugly head. 17 points while Boston threw in 29. The end.

Cleveland had free throw opportunities to keep it close, but missed too many of them. Boston did barely enough in the last 6 minutes to preserve the win.

Not a resounding victory, but one that puts Cleveland one game from extinction, and possibly facing the dreaded game 7 road game (remember Detroit 2 years ago?)

Not much else to say. Z did not fight hard enough for position down low. Wally missed a big one. They all missed free throws. Ugh.

I Was Wrong. Sue Me. Pierce and Allen 9-25. Varejao Beats Up Garnett.

Monday, May 12th, 2008

1) Wally is now a factor

2) Gibson is a factor

3) Joe Smith is a factor

Remarkably, Garnett laid a goose egg in the 4th quarter (MVP). Each Celtic player took turns taking lousy 3 pointers, including Allen and Posey. The Celtics appeared selfish and disoriented, while the Cavs seemed poised and defensively energized.

Game ball to Varejao for finally bringing energy and defense that stifled Garnett (MVP).

12 points in the 4th quarter, and now the pressure builds in Boston. One more thing:

GARNETT WAS POSTERIZED BY LEBRON ON THE DUNK AND FOULED LEBRON WITH A BLATANT SHOVE DURING THE DUNK. THIS ABUSIVE, FRUSTRATED FOUL HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH STOPPING THE BALL. IT WAS CLASSLESS AND FOOLISH. THE REFS FAILED TO CALL IT. I EXPECT MORE FROM BILL RUSSELL’S FAVORITE PLAYER (TONY’S MVP).

Somebody please post the link to the posterization, and you’ll see what I mean.

Kevin…you can always borrow Bill’s title…and LeBron’s crown. Moo.

Why Isn’t the Press Calling Out Ray Allen and Paul Pierce? Why Isn’t Lee?

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

Ray Allen is 8 for 26 after three games, and is averaging less than 9 points a game.

Pierce is 12 for 35 and is averaging 12 points per game.

Obviously, their performance to date has been as poor as LeBron’s. So why isn’t the press, or my co-host panning on these two guys? Because the best player is the easiest target because of his million dollar endorsements, and my support of him.

Sure….part of Lee’s reasons are to develop friction in our show and that’s good. But to ignore Mr Seattle averaging only 9 a game is a lack of fair analysis.

I was laughed off when I suggested that Pierce and Allen had never won anything in their careers. Is the pressure setting in? Is Allen tired? Are his legs heavy? Can’t he get away form Wally to get his shot off?

Let me answer. There is nothing wrong with Allen or LeBron. James was beaten like a wet rug for 6 games against Washington, and probably is beat up and compensating for it. Allen is worn down after a long season, and is not as fresh as he was early in the year.

We will hear from both men before this series is concluded. I guarantee it.

Paul Pierce is a selfish loser who never plays very well against us. He is envious of LeBron. Period. Lee?

Justin’s Theory Obliterated: Cavs and Tribe Win Big. Zen Is Nodding His Cow Head

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

Boston didn’t show up Saturday night. Neither did Toronto. After 10 minutes, both games were essentially over. Grady Sizemore turned Babe Ruth. Aaron Laffey turned Steve Carlton. Delonte West turned Ray Allen. Ray Allen turned Delonte West. Joe Smith turned Kevin Garnett.

The only constant in this game was Paul Pierce, his bitter beer face, lack of production and accentuated limp to show the world his suffering.

While LeBron couldn’t hit Gloria with an Elderado, Wally Szerbiak chose a good time to remember he used to be able to shoot. Even Ben Wallace made a free throw. Hell….we only played 8 guys. And still won easily.

So now LeBron is bumped from the headlines, while the “road warrior” Celtics articles are clogging the press. One more effort like this, and we have a real series.

And the Cavs have a real chance to steal one of two in Boston. (See…..I’m adding to the hype). Assuming the Tribe can continue to win games 12-0 and Delonte can score 20 a game. Ugh.

Cavs Jump the Shark….Season Close To Over

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

As if every weakness was suddenly exposed and magnified, the Cavs season is now 2 games from being over.

Worse than an 89-73 thrashing…worse than LeBron’s sudden shooting woes, is a total bewilderment at how to attack Boston’s defense. The Cavs are a rudderless ship. A gun without bullets. A team without an offense.

Prime suspects are Mike Brown, Danny Ferry and Dan Gilbert…the group who assembled the ship, and the man who has been unable to create a viable offense. Perhaps the attention to defense has robbed this group of their ability to shoot. More likely, the team is just not very good.

No anger from me. Just reality. The Celtics used their badness to buy 5 good players, and turn their team around. Cleveland got two of Boston’s castaways from a 25 win season. Is it any wonder which team is up 2-0?

Cleveland needs to reload its roster. Wally, Ben, Damon, Allred, and Dwayne need to be gone. We need to free up cap room to get a respectable team around LeBron. It’s gonna be a tall order indeed.

Cavs Lose Terrible Game. Celtics Win Terrible Game.

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

What do we take from Game 1?

LeBron played his worst and the Cavs lost by 4. Pierce and Allen played their worst and they won by 4. KG is not playing tight. Wally can’t play 2 good games in a row. Z showed up, and West couldn’t stop Rondo in the first half.

Most significantly, Boston proved it can win a down and dirty game against a team that revels in playing that way. They proved that KG IS their go to guy in such games.

Game 1’s loss is not the end of the series. But it was a missed opportunity. One that may not come back around.

Idiot Quote Of The Week: Antonio Daniels.

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

“Three times in a row. It’s tough,” Washington’s Antonio Daniels said. “But who knows what happens if we have a healthy team? A healthy Gilbert Arenas? If we had Darius Songaila for Game 6 — who knows what happens?”

Yes, Mr Slow Ball. But what if WE had Varejao 100%, Pavlovic, and the right to go to the basket without intentional fouls to the head? Better yet…what if your team had a fucking coach? Or a bench? Or a few guys with heart?

Hey Antonio….what if your guys hadn’t shot their mouths off before the series? What if your team showed up for game 2? What if you didn’t lose 2 games at home? What if you had the speed to penetrate, you fucking homeless squirrel?

What if you have to play Cleveland again next post season? What if you don’t make it to the post season because all your good guys leave? Screw you. Your team has no heart, and nothing but excuses. I’m sure Songaila woulda played the defense needed to close down the threes by Wally and Boobie. Eat my poop out of a cup. Moo.
