Pavlik Wayyyyy Too Big and Strong. KO Round 3

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

The Pavlik Fight in its entirety

Like a man against a boy, Kelly Pavlik overwhelmed Gary “made to order” Lockett. Outreached, outweighed, outskilled. That sums it up. Grazing shots knocked him silly.

I still warn Pavlik fans that he is susceptible to right hands. Lockett hit him, but didn’t hurt him. It’s doubtful Lockett could hurt Kelly’s Mom. This is a classic example of a champion “in light” against an easy opponent.

A fight against an awkward Calzhage could prove more challenging, if not exhilirating. Let’s hope that Kelly’s next fight is a unification bout.

BTW, Bob Arum’s face still looks like someone else’s ass.Using viagra

Kelly Pavlik To Retire

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

From the Youngstown Vindicator

Cow Correctly Picks Mayweather Fight. Kiss My Hoof Again, Leroy.

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

Oops…I said round 8 or 9. It was 10. I never can imagine how they get people to put money on a slower, underweight British guy against Mayweather. This one played out exactly as a Cow suspected. He got cut, outsped, and eventually knocked stiff by a more talented fighter. Great buildup for Hatton, who is really a 140 pounder and nothing more. He is also NOT a big puncher. He is a wee bit richer, and walking around with a few less brain cells.

Breaking Moos….Bob Arum Announces:

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Kelly Pavlik will fight Jermain Taylor in a 166 pound non title fight feb 16th at the MGM in Vegas.

Ray Boom Boom Mancini Tuesday at 5PM EST, Pavlick Trainer Jack Loew At 5:30PM. A Boxing Special Tuesday on Moohead Radio

Monday, October 1st, 2007

He was there. He saw it LIVE. What does Ray Mancini think about the Pavlik-Taylor fight now that it’s over? Tune in and find out why Ray ended up paying for his seats!!!

The Real Fight: Jack Loew Over Emanuel Steward KO 7.

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

One fighter was prepared. The other was not.

One fighter overcame adversity. One did not.

Both fighters were in good physical condition, but only one was in great physical condition.

You would think from the way HBO kisses Emanuel Steward’s ass, that Jermain Taylor would have had the perfect fight plan going into this fight. Truth be told, it was the absolute wrong strategy. I bet serious Bovine dollars that Jack Loew’s face lit up like an Atlantic City slot machine when he saw Taylor come out to slug. And I bet he started sizing the belt for Kelly after Kelly made it through Taylor’s 4 round power zone.

The thing I can’t figure is this. How can a Hall of Fame trainer tell his guy to stand in front of a freight train? The damn judges were doing their jobs…they all had Taylor 3 rounds ahead at the time of the KO. All Taylor had to do was run. After 3 rounds, Mr Hall of Fame trainer says to Taylor: “Keep making him fight. he’s not used to this pace.”

Who was Steward seeing on the other side? Pavlik’s Dad? Pavlik was just warming up. If any of you saw Pavlik’s training regimen, you’d know why he got up in the 2nd round, and why his head and legs cleared in 2 minutes. And you’d think that Mr Press Conference Steward would have watched film on Pavlik. He doesn’t wear out in the later rounds. Taylor does.

By the time Steward kept telling Taylor “your conditioning is good” between every round, I knew it was a case of sheer denial. Denial that his fighter was losing strength. Denial that his fighter was less strong than Kelly. Denial that some kid from Y-town was good enough to beat a gold medalist.

In the meantime, Loew is cooly dispensing solid advice. “double up that jab, and follow with a straight right.” Loew KNEW his fighter was in great shape because he saw to it. All Jack needed to see was Kelly getting up in the second and finishing the round. After that, Loew’s cool composure set the stage for a great KO.

Why does Jermain Taylor suffer from poor late round energy? Ask Tommy Hearns and the scores of other Steward fighters who have been mistrained by him. Ask Mr 7 rounds himself…Lenox Lewis, who used Steward and proved how a heavyweight can hold a title without endurance in the ring.

Today all the talk will be about Kelly, and rightfully so. But last night’s other fight ended in a KO. The one between Manny Steward and Jack Loew. Congratulations, Jack.

Marquez-Vazquez Is Fight of the Year. And NO..It Wasn’t Stopped Too Quickly.

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

If you paid to see Eric Morales lose and retire, and missed the “free” fight on Showtime, you blew it. For 6 unbelievable rounds, Manuel Marquez and Israel Vazquez renewed acquaintances in a ring in Hidalgo Texas. Five months ago, Marquez stopped Vazquez in the 7th after Vazquez quit due to a nose injury. This time it was different.

Fighting at 122 as opposed to 118, Vazquez plowed forward after round one, landing vicious left hooks, while Marquez threw big right hands and combinations. By round four, Vazquez was cut on both eyes, and Marquez looked like he’d been put through a meat grinder. But Marquez, who hadn’t lost in 7 years, started losing his legs in the 4th, allowing Vazquez to repeatedly trap him against the ropes. By the start of the 6th, it was an even fight.

Early in the 6th, Vazquez land a perfect left hook that dropped Marquez. Although he quickly rose, Vazquez was all over him, throwing vicious hooks and rights. Marquez was unable to use his legs, and could not hold. A big right crumbled Marquez into the ropes, and the referee stopped the fight, much to the chagrin of Marquez.

Close inspection of the stoppage shows that, although Marquez was still throwing a few shots, his legs were gone. Right after the stoppage, Marquez could not keep his balance. He could not make it to his corner unaided. He appeared to have been overwhelmed by a stronger fighter. Vazquez formerly held the 122 title, while Marquez was moving up from 118. It showed in his inability to shake off the left hook, or to escape the charges of Vazquez.

For one more night, boxing lived. This was the finest fight I’ve watched in years, and hope you were lucky enough to catch it.

Evander Holyfield Wins. Lombardi’s Body Exhumed So He Can Continue Coaching. LeCharles To Give It a Whirl

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

Watching Evander Holyfield fight is like watching Madonna strip. No one wants to see it anymore, but it continues to happen. Holyfield “beat” brain addled Lou Savarese over 10 meaningless rounds, and declared himself fit for a title shot. “bchagsdjgkdha” said Holyfield. “Hjdgfyuemnvjd hdgbndv df vbnvbhdmzb.”

Though no one could make out what Evander was saying, it is assumed that he will continue to fight, as he bitch slapped a younger woman in the back row of the arena. As for Savarese, he took the loss philosophically: “I LOVE lamp.”. No one was sure if he was referring to the retarded weather man in “Anchorman”, or if he was having a woody thinking about Jim Lampley.

The Indians did it again, with Joe Borowski leading the heart attack brigade to a 3-2 win. While the Tribe struck out at will, they managed just enough to beat the inferior Rays, who field like the Iraqui Army fights. This time, a short hop grounder turned into a 2 error melee as coach Joe Madden called Mike Hargrove on his cell phone to ask him when enough is enough. “Mike told he he felt he wasn’t doing enough for his players, even though they won 7 in a row. I think my players aren’t doing enough for me, and we’ll win 7 in a row when I get rid of the Clark Kent glasses and Maria Bello runs out on the field and blows me.”

Finally, Mr Infection says he’s gonna try to play this year. LeCharles has obviously heard about “the money” one too many times, and out of honor will give it the old college try. Problem is, the staph infection ate part of his repaired tendon. The odds of returning are about nil, according to doctors. The 4th surgery that Bentley refused would have attempted to replace the ravaged tendon with one from an organ donor. Good thing Bentley said no. With his luck, the clinic would have found a tendon from an organ “grinder” and poor LeCharles would never get the monkey off his back. (God, that’s conceptual).
