Cow Analyzes Cavs Game With Precision…Unfortunately
Rondo was penetrating. Boston got to the hole. Rondo made threes. Z disappeared. Boobie got hurt.
But at the heart of this game, the Cavs outplayed Boston 3 out of 4 quarters. Not enough on the road. An amazing 72% shooting 3rd quarter, and solid defense in the second half, led the Celtics to victory.
While Boston limped to the finish line, the Cavs simply fell behind too far, too late against a solid defensive team. Once again, the dreaded 3rd quarter reared its ugly head. 17 points while Boston threw in 29. The end.
Cleveland had free throw opportunities to keep it close, but missed too many of them. Boston did barely enough in the last 6 minutes to preserve the win.
Not a resounding victory, but one that puts Cleveland one game from extinction, and possibly facing the dreaded game 7 road game (remember Detroit 2 years ago?)
Not much else to say. Z did not fight hard enough for position down low. Wally missed a big one. They all missed free throws. Ugh.

Posted on May 15th, 2008 at 11:51 amSo the Cavs face extinction? Nah, they’ll live on no matter what happens the next 2 games.
I’ve seen nothing that makes me think we can win in Boston. I do believe they’ll win game 6, but will that matter? This is like 2 years ago with Detroit. Key point was throwing away a 14 pt lead in 2 minutes, which carried over into another bad 3rd quarter.
Brown ran the same play for a dozen or so straight possessions. That same old pick and roll with LeBron is just too predictable. Will we ever have an offensive-minded coach? Like you told me Moohead, if they’d lost to Washington, there would be major changes, but not so with Boston. Ferry will just say they got beat by a better team, blah blah and there won’t be any big changes in the offseason.

Posted on May 15th, 2008 at 12:54 pmHow many times did Rondo burn the Cavs last night with a simple pick and drive? Even though he hit those two 3’s at the end of the first half, you can’t follow him over the pick. He is so much more effective driving the ball than shooting from outside. I don’t understand why you don’t make the adjustment to under the pick and take away the lane. These are the defensive adjustment you would expect Brown to make…
