Mr Philosophical: At the current rate of global warming, how many more Super Bowls will there be? And in a world where millions struggle to find enough food to survive, how large an “event” is the Super Bowl? If New England lost, they may still inherently be the best team in history, albeit one that had a bad day. But would beating the Patriots in essence make the Giants a better team for one day? Must the greatest team in history be the greatest EVERY DAY, or can they take a day off during Black History month? In reverse, could the Giants be the best team in history minus 5 days of the calendar?

Bill Masterson: My wife Ethel, God rest her soul, used to watch the game when she was alive. Since she died it’s been less fun. Taking her out of the plastic bag and lifting her onto her favorite chair is getting more difficult for me. And you know that dead weight is the heaviest. Plus the smell drove all my old friends away. I tried those Glade plug in air fresheners, but they couldn’t salvage the party. My friend Jerry was the last one to watch with me and Ethel. That was last year. Jerry brought the cole slaw and clothes pins. I made Ethel’s old Avocado dip. We all think New England’s gonna win. Jerry’s helping me put Ethel on the porch so the house won’t smell so bad. We’ll hoist her onto her old rocker chair, and push it every 10 minutes so nothing looks odd to the neighbors. Happy Super Bowl, Mr Cow.
