PLEASE RESPOND! I Need YOUR Input: Your Opinions On Our LIVE Video Quality.
In the last few days, Mogulus has lightened their graphics application, and they are asking me about the quality of the LIVE stream. I don’t monitor the LIVE show, but YOU DO!!! Please answer the following questions for me:
1) Has the video smoothness improved in the last few days? Is it less or more choppy? Or no change?
2) How smooth are the transitions from my camera to Lee and back again?
3) How is the phone call quality?
4) How is the video quality compared to other apps like Ustream?
5) Can you watch the whole show uninterrupted, or does it freeze up?
6) If it freezes, is it just video freeze or both audio and video?
7) Can you watch it better on one computer than another?
In the last few months, has Mogulus quality improved, stayed the same or declined?
YOUR answers will be forewarded to the CEO of Mogulus. Please respond and answer each of the questions clearly. Lee and I appreciate your help in making Moohead Radio better.

Posted on February 1st, 2008 at 12:03 amI’ll honestly say that the Video and Audio Freezes up way too much during the show and on the replay’s that causes alot of stuttering, The Video is Good Quality, the Audio is Good Quality, its just the Video and Audio Freezing is way too much.

3) How is the phone call quality? - This is fine.
4) How is the video quality compared to other apps like Ustream? - Don’t remember Ustream. Before my time.
5) Can you watch the whole show uninterrupted, or does it freeze up? - Freezes up a LOT. Usually for about 5 seconds, but occasionally I have to refresh the page to get the stream to start again.
6) If it freezes, is it just video freeze or both audio and video? - Both.
7) Can you watch it better on one computer than another? - Not much difference. Both laptops run about the same. Haven’t tried on the desktop, but then I’m rarely around home to try it.

Apple iMac 1.83ghz Intel Core Duo with 2 GB Ram
Verizon FIOS 20mbit down/5mbit Up
1.) smoothness sort of improved but it has still been choppy at times. One thing I did notice was that your audio would come through at times but your video would be completely frozen. Overall the improvements haven’t impressed me and I have a great internet connection so bandwidth is not an issue on my end
2.) transitions themselves have been fine, I have heard you both complain about user sync problems. After the transistions though it goes back to choppy video and in Lee’s case I rarely see more than a couple frames per second, but that could be a bandwidth problem on his end.
3.) Phone call quality is going to be as good as it is going to get. The quality and bandwidth consumption are low so as they always say, compared to your pro mic, garbage in garbage out. Overall though I think it is solid
4.) Video quality itself is great, it is the frame dumping, audio/video freezing and the delays that are the problem. I have watched some other sites shows and they have a decent quality video without the chop.
5.) I have never watched a live show uninterrupted. When it comes to the replay where the show skipped causes a major hiccup in the rebroadcast.
6.) 95% of the time it is the video that just completely stops as the audio continues to broadcast. Is it possible that your audio hardware between you and lee is causing some bandwidth issues?
7.) Every computer I have watched it on has frozen up at least a handful of times in the episode. Lee’s camera is by far the most freezing.
Overall Mogulus has stayed about the same in quality and performance. I think in comparison to other products out there it has the most true-to-live feed. They just need to work out these kinks and get that darn audio conference

Posted on February 1st, 2008 at 12:36 pmI have nothing more to add orhter than Jim Giles isn’t having the same problems with Mogulus as you two are. That more than likely has to do with the fact that he’s a one cow show, whereas you have a two cow show. I haven’t viewed What the Buc so I can’t comment about him.
I experience all the problems listed above.
A side note, I’ve notice that when you get more than 10 viewers or so the overall bandwith of the site bogs down.
Would it be possible to run the stream on multiple services? Ustream AND Mogulus?? Or is that a paradox??
