Leroy’s quote: Oh, that’s right…..It’s Cleveland. A Place where people are not satisfied if their team goes to the NBA FINALS and loses. A place where people are not satisfied if their team is 1 game away from going to the WORLD SERIES. A place where going from 4 - 12, to 10 - 6 the next year….just isn’t enough.
Sometimes I think that CLEVELAND doesn’t deserve to have a Sports Franchise.
I’m making a New Year’s resolution to treat people better in 2008. Which gives me license to piss in your Wheaties today.
What would YOU know about being a Cleveland fan? Look at the Terry Pluto column below. THAT’S what I call bullshit, cheapshot, yellow journalism. That’s not how real fans feel. Real fans like me believe that a team that went from 4-12 to 10-6 deserved better than to watch a team intentionally lose a home game. Real fans like me don’t think the Browns deserved to make the playoffs. They are offended that 10-6 against first string opposition lost to 10-6 against 3rd stringers. The Titans would not have been within 15 points if Manning had played. They would not have been able to come back if Manning had played in more than 2 series.
But that’s water under the bridge. So you think we don’t deserve a team? How interesting that the lack of motivation and commitment to apathy in the great NW has led to the Seattle Supersonics…the city that the NBA has gone on record saying it is never going to play in again. You got your holiday wish…don’t wish your circumstance on Cleveland fans.
Cleveland fans fought harder than anyone to get our team back. Don’t see you or anybody in Starbucks town fighting for your team. You probably conveniently forgot when our Indians beat your “miracle” Mariners with Randy Johnson. Remember? Your fans only started coming to your games the last month of the season when you got hot. Fair weather fans in Seattle. Cleveland fans are passionate. Sometimes TOO passionate. We feel that our season was more deserving of good fortune than the Titan’s season. I’m sure Tennessee fans see it the other way around.
But at least we care. We watch our team. We may be overly critical, but we CARE. There’s lots of things that aren’t fair. Why should the Jags play AT Pittsburgh when they beat them head to head and have a better record? Because of the league rules. But it isn’t just, is it?
You go ahead and drink your latte and run your Bloomsday race, and have your Friday casual days at work. Today, the city of Cleveland bleeds orange. After that, we will try to shore up our defense in the draft. And your baseball team will have more Japanese fans than local fans. Thank Moo.

I’m going to defend Leroy here. A Clevelander has no place criticizing Seattle for lack of fan support. Let’s review the facts:

The NFL’s Browns and Seahawks both sell out their games, with Cleveland slightly edging Seattle in overall attendance, mainly because Cleveland’s stadium is bigger.
In short, the Mariners have outdrawn the Indians over the last 10 years, including last season when the Mariners drew nearly 5,000 more fans per game despite having a vastly inferior team to the AL Central-winning Indians. And the Sonics outdrew the Cavs by about 1,500 per game in the years leading up to LeBron’s arrival. It took the addition of the best player in the planet for Cleveland to start supporting its team and edge Seattle in attendance.
So if Seattle is bereft of fans, yet outdraws Cleveland in two of the major sports, then what does that say about Cleveland?
It’s not Seattle’s fault that the Sonics are going to Oklahoma City. A Clevelander of all people should understand what it’s like to be taken hostage by a league and a bad owner.

All I ever hear is about how Upset everybody is about how their Cleveland Teams are doing……when in all actuality…..This year you’ve had one of the BETTER Sports Towns in regards to Performance. 2nd only to BOSTON. How would you like to live in MIAMI with the Dolphins, Heat, and Marlins to root for?
And to think….if the real CLEVELAND BROWNS showed up at CINCY…..we wouldn’t have had to root for the COLTS.
My son is a DENVER BRONCO’s Fan….and for 2 years in a row the INDIANAPOLIS Colts totally didn’t play their 1st string against DENVER during the last game of the season…..which let the BRONCO’s into the Playoffs. And the next week, the COLTS played DENVER in the 1st round and blew them out.
This is what INDY does.
I guess your BOVINE Sniffer wasn’t working too well on Friday, because everybody else knew that TENNESSEE would win.
And Yes, in Spokane….we have BLOOMSDAY, The World’s Largest TIMED ROAD RACE…where over 50,000 people jog through the streets for roughly 7 miles.
We also have HOOPFEST, the World’s Largest 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament…which last year had 6,156 Teams….and viewed by over 175,000 people.
We also have numerous SKI RESORTS, Mountain Biking Trails, and the Centennial Trail….(A secluded Bikers and Joggers Pathway that runs along the Spokane River for over 30 miles from Spokane to Coeur d’alene)
I guess in Spokane……People get off of their ASS instead of writing angry columns bitching about THE BROWNS, TENNESSEE….or wanting another GUY to suck on their private parts.

I for one am happy with how the BROWNS, INDIANS, and CAV’S did over the last year…but since I like Latte’s and Casual Friday’s…..my opinion doesn’t count.

The fans stayed away because the team stopped being competitive. When they were competitive, they sold out HOW MANY games in a row? Please.
Browns fans fought for 5 years to get their team back. No one in Baltimore did that when they moved to Indy. And no one’s doing it in Seattle to save the Sonics.
If the Seahawks had the Browns record since 1999, would they still be selling out? Me no think so.

I don’t know anyone who is not satisfied with a 10-6 record. I am not satisfied that Tennessee is a better team than Cleveland. And I know Seattle isn’t. Neither is Tampa Bay. I do not think we deserved to make it.
I also think that Brady Quinn is our guy. I think people in Spokane are outdoorsy and healthy, but professionally unmotivated. I think people in Flint were bigoted and bitter. Cleveland fans are loudmouthed and overly critical. Seattle fans are less involved.
I also think Vince Young was afraid to come back into the game, and the Titans were lucky to eke out a win against 3rd stringers. The real Browns DID show up in Cincy. The ones with an up and down QB who killed us that day with errors. The guy whose last 6 games averaged a 60 QB rating.

Spokane’s Health Care Industry is one of the highest rated in the Pacific Northwest.
If you want to lash out at the MEDIA in Spokane…then I would agree. But I could say the exact same thing about RADIO and TELEVISION in every other city in America.
I am surprised that the only reason you are attacking the CITY of SPOKANE, is because I live here. Sad, Really!
And what I don’t miss about MICHIGAN, is the non-stop “Negative Thinking” about everything. Their Jobs, Their Teams, Their Families. Though I’m starting to realize that it might just be an East-Coast thing.

Seattle is a football town the way Texas is a football state. We couldn’t give a rat’s tush about basketball. And baseball, well, when we got an ownership group that actually CARED more about baseball and less about moving the team to Indianapolis or Tampa Bay, the fans started coming out. Surprising how winning does that.

I think you’re just bitter because Seattle is going to the playoffs (Division Chaps 4 years running, and not long after the moving vans nearly took them to Los Angeles), while our little band of Brownies sits at home yet again.
As for the Sonics, all I can say is “Go Sonics! Oke City will love ya.”
(Oh, and just for the record, both Seattle (Sonics-1979 (NBA), Storm-2003 (WNBA)) and Spokane (Chiefs-1991 (Memorial Cup - Hockey) have won more professional sports championships than Cleveland since 1990… Well, wait… Since 1964…)
