I Got An Idea…Let’s Put Borowski Into a Non Close Situation, and Put Rouse In As a Defensive Replacement For Barfield!

Pure genius. Did Wedge look at Borowski’s record in non closing situations? Nope. Could Perez have pitched one more inning? Yup. If you wanted to pinch hit Lofton, would you yank your best defensive infielder and replace him with Mike Rouse?

Wedge wins it in the ninth for the Twins with a walk off coaching decision that leaves me puzzled.

Mike Rouse has no arm. He can’t hit. He heaved the ball from second like he had trouble getting it there. What was at stake? First place, of course. Another example of why Wedge’s favorites make people question his mental acuity.

Why not let the speedy Barfield hit, and retain your middle infield. Then let Lofton pinch hit if either Barfield or Sizemore get on? Let Kenny pinch hit for Blake if a fast guy gets on first with a chance to steal or move into scoring position. At least Lofton would put the bat on the ball. Blake can’t hit in those situations. You still get Rouse at third, but you don’t give up Blake until someone’s in scoring position. Plus you save Barfield for defense.

Wedge is a poor manager…this is example #72.

So Jason Michaels could strike out. More Wedge strategy. 35,000 come out to see kenny…don’t play him. That’ll teach Kenny a lesson. Moo.

i had Lofton starting on my fantasy team too, now we all know you hate Ron Gardenhire, but would you rather have him as your skipper than Eric Wedge Marc?

also i have to ask you, would you have rather seen Perez stay in and pitch the 9th or would you rather have Wedge pull another brilliant move and bring in Tom Mastny?

I like Wedge believe it or not, BUT I am sick of this lefty-righty garbage!!! Lofton can hit any pitcher, any day, any time! Start him in front of a sell-out and DEMOTE ROUSE immediately!

You leave Perez in for one more inning. He threw very few pitches in the eighth, and is effective against righties as well as lefties. He still had Betancourt out there as well, PLUS he had the heart of his lineup coming up in the bottom of the inning. Lofton must be an everyday player down the stretch. Michaels is not good enough in a tight situation. There is nothing to like about Wedge’s managerial style. He lost the game yesterday. He’s afraid to run on Mauer, and manages cautiously in low scoring games. He loses an inordinate percentage of one run games.

hopefully Wedge doesnt screw it up for you guys down the stretch, because we all know the Twinkies are taking the Central if not the Wild Card, last year will become a reality One Mo Time

HBC_Tony, unless the Twinkies can overcome what like 5 teams, I do not see them overtaking any team for the Wild Card or the Central. I think the Mariners, Yanks, Tribe and hell even Toronto are tougher than them.

How about you throw Rafe in there after all hes just the best reliever we have.

Borowski choked. I was very pleased with Perez’s performance. I agree with Moo. We should’ve left Perez in. Borowski just flat out choked.

Wedge can’t manage under pressure, period. If it’s anything close to a playoff game he will find a way to motivate his players to lose. Unfortunately he is going to be here for a long time, and the post season will not. The Twins will bypass the Tribe in the standing in August.
